It is hard to believe that Summer is just around the corner. I cannot believe it is already May. Maintaining your home quarterly is necessary for the integrity of your home. If you ever decide to sell you will have a lot less to do at the last minute with regular maintenance. Prospective Home Buyers will appreciate your efforts.
INSPECT CAULKING ON WINDOWS AND DOORS: During the Winter, what little Winter we have in Louisiana, windows and doors can separate from the frame. Inspect the perimeter of your house and replace weather stripping and cracking caulk.
ROOF CARE: Check your roof for any broken, peeling or missing shingles. Have these replaced immediately. It is also a great time to clean out gutters and downspoouts.
HAVE YOUR A/C CHECKED: It is beest to have your A/C system checked by a licensed professioal now before Summer as you will pay more in the Summer. I have my system checked in the Spring and the Fall. Check your filters to see if they need replacing and check your air return to see if it needs cleaning. I check my air filters every month when my utility bill comes in. Some experts recommend planting a shade tree next to your unit to block the sun so your unit will run more effeciently.
TURN ON YOUR EXHAUST FAN WHILE SHOWERING: By doing this you will remove the warm moist air from your bathroom and your A/C will not have to work so hard once you open the bathroom door after your shower.
GET YOUR YARD READY: Now is a great time to plant. My flowers were planted this morning. Check your garden hoses for cracks, powerwash walkways, patios and siding if needed. Our plants and flowers are like us they need water to survive Louisiana Summers.
IF YOU CAN AVOID BEING OUTSIDE DURING THE HOTTEST TIMES OF THE DAY, WEAR SUNSCREEN AND KEEP YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HYDRATED WITH A LOT OF WATER.
PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR PETS TOO DURING THE SUMMER. THEY NEED A LOT OF WATER AND SHADE. WATCH THE WEATHER FOR THE HEAT INDEX AS THEY MAY NEED TO BE BROUGHT INSIDE IF POSSIBLE.
IF YOU PLAN ON TAKING A ROAD TRIP MAKE SURE YOUR VEHICLE IS READY TOO BY HAVING IT CHECKED BY A LICENSED MECHANIC.
