Some of you know, and some of you don't know, but I have recently got a fur baby. He is a 5 month old Yellow Lab named Koopa. He will make a few appearances here in my blog posts.
Although I am not moving, I spent my weekend moving furniture into one room so we could replace the flooring in our living/dining(this also happened because of Koopa.) While we were moving the furniture, Koopa would go into the room that we were putting all of it in and would not move. I could tell he had a very concerned face. So this reminded me, that dogs have feelings too. Moving all of your furniture or packing boxes can be a very scary thing for them. They do not understand that when you are moving that they are indeed coming with you.
When we made the move from Nevada to Louisiana we had a Yellow Lab named Laz, he too was very nervous about that move. Not only did we pack up everything he knew, we put him in a Uhaul and he rode with us (shotgun) across country. Some dogs will lash out out of nervousness. A few years ago we made a move just from one house to another and my German Shepard at the time, ate my favorite pair of boots. He had never chewed any shoes before, but he was nervous because of all the packing and change.
So remember, if you are making a move, big or small, consider your fur baby's feelings and make them as comfortable as possible.
